CROWN SMALL MOUTH GROUND LIP PINTS
Note... Number of pearls are listed left to right. Or 10 left 12 right
STYLE < 1 > TALL NARROW CROWN
This ones nickname comes from the tall skinny look of the Crown emblem.
This pint is very similar to the " Hybrid Quart " The general shape of the Crown , the vertical rectangle coming down from the cross on this one , and from the bulge on the Hybrid. Also the small rectangle in the middle band. As well as the CROWN engraving.
There are 2 molds in this style.
One has 8 - 8 Pearls .. Aqua , Clear
the other 9 - 9 .Pearls .. Aqua
These jars can be found in clear ( rare) . Most though are aqua.
I believe these and the Hybrid were made by the Excelsior Glass Co around the time of the switch to the North American Glass Co. name.
The Crown pints have the early base and the Hybrid has the newer style base. See notes on the EGCo made Darlings
STYLE < 2 > NO DOT CROWN
This is named because there are no pearls on each side of the Crown
I have at this time neither of the 2 molds .They came with the odd sized mouth
Base 1 .
Plain Base .
I feel certain these were the same moulds used for the GEM / Rutherford , as well as the Darling standard measure.
The pic below is from an unknown source , Thanks
STYLE < 3 > SQUARE SHOULDER JAR
I have only found one mold in this style . It is very similar to the " Rope Crowns " set. I feel these are the first Crowns after the No Dot group in 1891 after Hamilton was purchased by the Diamond Glass Co..
It seems to have been made just before the quart and half gallon.
Note how the large upper cross with the vertical diamond is not carried on in the qt. and hg. , but is modified.
Plain base . It has 19 - 18 pearls .. Aqua
STYLE < 4 > REVERSE CROWN
This name comes from the row of pearls in the bands in the middle of the crown emblem, being reversed from the norm.
The norm is that the pearls are below the band with the zig zag lines. ,
The C in the word Crown has a line that forms a V to start the C , it should not be confused with the Style 5.
Plain base. 13 - 12 Pearls
Base 2 , 12 - 12 Pearls
this base 2 jar also comes reworked with no base number 2 . Both of these moulds come in Dark Aqua to Aqua tint + light green
This Reverse of the placing of the beads in the upper band was also used by another glass house in the Style 10 No Word Crown Pt.
STYLE < 5 > FISH HOOK CROWN
The name on this one comes from the C in the word Crown ,
Although styles 4 & 8 look more like a real fish hook , many people use this name for this one , so I leave it
At the top of the C to begin the letter the line comes down then " squares off horizontally " then goes up to begin the letter C .
The letters in this word CROWN are shorter than the Style 8 , and the O in the word Crown in this one is rectangular.
This style comes with
Plain base , 9 - 9 Pearls
Base 1 , 9 - 11 Pearls . All are in Aqua
STYLE < 6 > SLANTED LEG " R" in word CROWN .
The right line that forms the lower right hand leg of the R in CROWN is slanted . This is a similar jar to the Style 7 which has a straight leg.
This style has
Base 1 , 10 - 10 Pearls
Base 2 , 9 - 11 Pearls
Base 3 , 11 - 11 Pearls
Base 4 , 10 - 10 Pearls
All are in Aqua
The base 1 jar, has straighter sides, that give a squarer shoulder at the top of the jar...
Base 2, 3 & 4 have the normal sloped sides of most midget pints.
STYLE < 7 > STRAIGHT LEG " R " in word CROWN
This time the leg in the R is straight down.
This style has ,
Plain base,10 - 10 Pearls , this plain base jar has sloped sides like base 2 , 3 , & 4 in the style 6 set .
Base 2 at this time ( NEED )
Base 3 , 11 - 11 Pearls , On the base of the 3 mold there is a small rectangular plate .
Base 4 . 10 - 10 Pearls , In this set base 4 comes reworked with rectangular pearls in the band
. The base 3 and 4 have straight sides like base 1 in style 6 . Base 2 should be like this also.
All are in Aqua & Green aqua .
STYLE < 8 > TEETH IN CENTER BAND
On many of the Crowns the middle band has zig zag lines , on this one though the lines look like a set of clenched teeth.
Again in this style the line at the beginning of the C in the word Crown does not square off in the same way before going up to form the letter C .
This again keeps it easily recognizable from the style 5. Also the Crown emblem and word are larger than the previous styles .
Base 1 , 11 - 11 Pearls Aqua , Green aqua , & Green aqua tint.
STYLE < 9 > HIGH X BAND
The lines in the center band on the Crown are a double xxxx It has a tall cross in the top of the emblem .
It comes
Plain base , 10 - 11 Pearls , this mould also comes reworked with square pearls in the band... Aqua
STYLE < 10 > NO WORD CROWN
This one as the name implies has no word CROWN. I do not have either of the 2 molds that it came in .
10 - 10 Pearls listed All are Clear
9 - 9 , Pearls listed
I do not know of the base markings.
This style has the pearls, in the middle of the crown , in the upper band like the style 4 Reverse Crown.
It though is a very different emblem.
This was made by Burlington Glass leaving off the word " Crown". SEE NO WORD SWEET HEART CROWN
This pic also if from an unknown source . Thanks
IMPERIAL PINTS
STYLE < 11 > CROWN / Crown emblem / IMPERIAL Pt
There are 2 jars in this style. These are easy to recognize , because there are only the Bulge and Sweet Heart as other styles in Imperial pints , .
There are
Base 1 , 11 - 12 Pearls Aqua & Clear in each mould
Base 2 , 10 - 10 Pearls
STYLE < 12 > BULGE in CROWN
The orb or circle in the top of the Crown emblem bulges out from the body of the jar.
There is only 1 mold , it comes
Plain base , 18 - 17 Pearls Aqua
Made by NAGCo
STYLE < 13 > SWEET HEART CROWN
This Crown is Heart shaped it comes in 2 molds .
Plain base , 12 - 12 Pearls Aqua & light Aqua in each.
Also as a , 13 - 13 Pearls with 2 dots on the base
These two jars are Hamilton Glass made , yet many Sweetheart Crowns are Burlington Glass , Hamilton only getting the design in 1885 when they bought out Burlington... See comments on the quart jars.

This to me is the nicest of the smooth lip Crown small mouth pints. Seldom seen . I've only found 1 mold. 10 - 10 . In Aqua.
This is the last of the pints before going to the straight side normal mouth size & lid. This smock type Crown Logo is used on the first straight side jars.
